Ottawa IT Community Partner of the Year Award
The Ottawa Windows Server User Group (OWSUG), Ottawa .NET Community (ODNC) and have collectively created an award to recognize outstanding sponsorship.

This award called ‘Ottawa IT Community Partner of the Year’, is presented to one corporate partner that has provided exceptional support to the Ottawa IT community.

All finalists for this year’s award have helped the community thrive in the 2007 – 2008 (Listed alphabetically):

  • CTE Solutions
  • DevTeach & SQLTeach
  • MSDN Canada and TechNet Canada
  • Robert Half Technology

CTE Solutions: Winner

From left to right: Orest Hirniak (ODNC), Garth Jones (OWSUG), Kim Frank (CTE Solution), and David Myers (

CTE Solutions has been a great supporter of the Ottawa IT community and has demonstrated a commitment to professional development that goes beyond traditional training.  CTE Solutions has provided facilities and resources that enabled our community to provide certification study groups for MCSE, MCTS, MCITP and MCPD exams.  Within the last year alone, over 50 people have been certified on various Microsoft technologies. This has contributed both to the growth of the IT community and the professional growth of the participants.

DevTeach & SQLTeach: Finalist
DevTeach & SQLTeach conferences have been exceptional resources for Canadian developers and IT professionals.  The support they provide extends past providing affordable Canadian training conferences.  DevTeach & SQLTeach have supported all Canadian user groups through sponsoring various user group events, helping groups find presenters, and bringing community leaders together at the ‘Canadian User Group Leader’ conferences. DevTeach & SQLTeach support of the Ottawa IT community has contributed to the fantastic success of 2007-2008.

MSDN Canada & TechNet Canada: Finalist
MSDN Canada & TechNet Canada both have teams dedicated to help promote community growth, however it has been come clear that the Canadian teams go above and beyond what their counter parts are doing elsewhere in the world.  IT Pro Team & Developer Team are on the front line at most events however there are a number of individuals who work with these teams. Without both frontline and backend teams the local users group would have to do significantly more work than they do now.  Both MSDN Canada and TechNet Canada have made the events of the 2007-2008 possible.

Robert Half Technology: Finalist
Robert Half Technology provided the Ottawa .NET Community with major funding for its’ events, hosted one of its focus group at their offices, attended many of its events, and made every effort to help and encourage the ODNC in its objective of building a thriving developer community.

We would like to congratulate CTE Solutions as the winner of this year’s award.  We look forward to working with all of our sponsors again next season!
